The correct feed change

To ensure the transition to our Wildfang® premium food goes smoothly, we've compiled some helpful tips for you. It's important that you give yourself and your dog time to do this – we recommend switching the food within 11 days. If your dog is particularly sensitive, allow a few more days for a gentle transition to the new food.

Day 1 - 3

Replace 25% of the current food with the new Wildfang® Premium dry food. The remaining 75% consists of the original food.

So, if your dog's daily ration is 200g and you feed him twice a day, you would give him 25g of wild-caught food and 75g of the "old" food in the morning. And then in the evening, give him exactly the same ration: 25g of wild-caught food and 75g of the original food.

Day 4 - 6

Replace 50% of the current food with the new Wildfang® Premium dry food. The remaining 50% consists of the original food.

Tip: Our premium food is very well tolerated, but not every dog is the same. If your dog is having difficulty, simply extend the transition period by gradually increasing the amount of the new Wildfang food over a longer period of time, giving your furry friend more time to get used to the new food.

Day 7 - 10

Replace 75% of the current food with the new Wildfang® Premium dry food. The remaining 25% consists of the original food.

Tip: The change in food can of course also be used for puppies. Our premium food for Puppies and young dogs can be used up to the age of 1 - 1.5 years.

Bon appetit! The entire meal now consists of the new Wildfang® Premium dry food. In consultation with your veterinarian, you can use the following factors and methods to determine whether the food change is worthwhile and suitable for your dog:

Change in stool consistency
Reduction of flatulence
Skin health
Coat texture
Weight
Blood tests (for chronic and organic diseases)

Do I need a feed change if I change the variety within the Wildfang® feed?

It would be truly boring for us humans to eat the same thing every day, and a one-sided diet is not considered healthy either. When it comes to feeding your dog or puppy, the situation is completely different. Even wolves, the wild ancestors of dogs, often hunt and eat the same animals. Therefore, dogs don't necessarily need variety in their food. On the other hand, some dogs seem to prefer a new type of food, and the interest in something new is often more appealing. If you would like to give your dog this variety, our diverse Wildfang range provides the necessary nutrients that contribute to your dog's health. Switching between varieties is easy, as all of our foods are produced using the same process. Therefore, a change in food is not necessary if you change varieties within our Wildfang® Premium food.
